Gapped Amorphous Cores For Power Factor Correction (PFC) Inductor

Gapped Amorphous PFC Inductor cores:

At present, there are two types of magnetic cores suitable for making PFC inductors: ferrite cores and amorphous cores. Ferrite cores has been widely used in PFC inductors before, but with the development of high power, high frequency and low loss, Ferrite cores can not meet the requirements. Due to the high saturation value (Bs) of the amorphous material is 1.56T, which is three times that of ferrite materials. Under the same conditions of use, the inductance of amorphous cores can reach three times that of ferrite cores, and the volume is only half that of ferrite cores. Amorphous alloy have high Curie temperature and much better temperature stability than ferrite, and which is the ideal materials for making PFC inductors.

The PFC inductor cores (Power Factor Correction) with gap is based on the Fe-based amorphous alloys, and it has excellent characteristics of constant inductance and anti-DC magnetic bias, besides the loss is lower.
